Rapsolja och dess negativa effekter

När jag ändå är i farten så skall jag passa på att slå ett negativt slag för rapsoljan. Min mage gjorde en rejäl vändning till det bättre när jag slutade med den för 20 år sedan. Det första jag hörde när jag flyttade till USA var att de Kanadensiska myndigheterna påtalat att den bearbetade giftiga rapsoljan vilken där kallas för Canola oil är mer lämpad för bilmotorer än människomotorer.

Rapsoljan är billig att framställa och finns idag i allt ifrån mat till hygienprodukter. Tänk på att det som kroppen inte mår bra av skall heller inte läggas på huden.

Du avgör själv om du skall äta rapsolja eller ej. Den verkar fungera bra för vissa men inte för alla. Våra kroppar är som små kemiska fabriker och de reagerar inte alltid samma så gör rätt val för dig själv och din kropp.

Can a “health food” eaten by millions really be dangerous?
Canola oil and its derivative, rapeseed, are primary suspects for the exceptionally high incidence of Asian lung cancer[1].
According to mainstream media though, canola oil is “good for the heart” offering viable monounsaturated fats similar to olive oil. Sadly, much of what we hear in the mainstream media and various “health” blogs has been influenced by aggressive marketing tactics of big food companies.
For this reason, it is critical to know what websites to avoid and where you can go to get trustworthy and accurate health information.
In order to understand how canola oil came into the marketplace, some historical background is needed.
A Bit of History on Canola Oil
We can trace olive oil back to olives and sesame seed oil back to sesame seeds, so wouldn’t it make sense that canola oil would come from canola seeds? Well, it’s not the case. There is no natural canola plant that produces canola oil.
In the late 1960s canola oil was invented in Canada. The oil was cheap to manufacture and a dominant ingredient in many processed foods. A derivative of the rapeseed plant, which is part of the mustard family of plants, canola oil has been hybridized to eliminate the lethal erucic acid found in rapeseed.
Olive oil was the product of choice among those who were health conscious; however, it was quite expensive to mass produce. So the food industry, needing a more affordable substitute, started selling rapeseed oil. Unfortunately, the rapeseed oil caused muscular heart lesions.
The erucic acid found in rapeseed oil is naturally poisonous to the degree that insects avoid it. Rapeseed oil is also the source of the notorious chemical warfare agent[2], mustard gas. The US banned rapeseed in 1956 when thousands of soldiers and civilians experienced blistered lungs and skin. Rapeseed oil also lubricated steam engines and ships due to its unique ability to adhere to wet metal.
In 1964, the food industry collaborated with both the chemical and nuclear industries[3] in an attempt to reduce the toxicity levels of rapeseed. It took the food industry over a decade and a tremendous amount of genetic engineering to get rapeseed oil to be acceptable to the US market.
The late 1970s introduced a technique of genetic treatment involving cracking open seeds.[4] Canadian plant breeders developed a variation of rapeseed that produced a monounsaturated oil low in erucic acid.
The name was changed to LEAR: Low Eruric Acid Rapeseed. LEAR was not well received in the US as its association with rapeseed was too glaring. Not to mention having the word “rape” in a product name, which did not promote a healthy image.
In 1978 the food industry merged the words “Canada” and “ola” meaning oil – creating the name Canola Oil.

As I wrote in my book, Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can’t Live Without It, iodine deficiency is responsible for the epidemic of thyroid and breast disorders that we are seeing today. This includes autoimmune thyroid disorders such as Hashimoto’s and Graves’ disease, thyroid cancer and hypothyroidism as well as fibrocystic breast disease and breast cancer. Every cell in the body requires adequate iodine levels to function optimally. In the glandular tissue—the thyroid, ovaries, uterus, breast, pancreas, and prostate–iodine is responsible for maintaining the normal architecture of the glands. When iodine deficiency is present, it sets in motion a cascade of events. This cascade starts with glandular cysts forming. If iodine deficiency continues, the cysts become hard and nodular. The next step is the glandular tissue starts to assume a precancerous appearance—called hyperplasia. The final stage in this sequence is cancer. The good news is that in vitro (in test tubes) and in vivo (in animals and people) studies have found that iodine therapy can halt the progression of glandular events and even reverse it.




The answer is “yes”.
And the link could explain not only the breast and thyroid connection but also why we are suffering from an epidemic of other glandular illnesses—including cancer—of the ovary, uterus, pancreas, and prostate. What is the link?
The link is iodine deficiency.

E330, citronsyra, är en av livsmedelsindustrins mest använda tillsatser. Men trodde du att ämnet, med det oskyldigt klingande namnet, var tillverkat av citroner, så trodde du troligen fel.

Medlet, som har en antioxidativ, konserverande men framförallt surhetsreglerande effekt i allt från krossade tomater till läsk, är idag i själva verket en rent bioteknisk produkt.

Råvaran till citronsyra är sällan längre citroner eller annan frukt. Istället är den någon form av sockerhaltig lösning, inte sällan framställd av den billiga och i dagens livsmedel frekvent använda majsen. Till denna lösning sätts svampar av svartmögel, Aspergillus niger, som när de "äter" av sockret producerar bland annat citronsyra.

Nästa steg i processen är att filtrera bort själva möglet. För att sedan utvinna just citronsyran ur lösningen tillsätts det starkt basiska ämnet släckt kalk, kalciumhydroxid, varpå ett salt av citronsyra, ett citrat, fälls ut.

Detta salt omvandlas sedan tillbaka till citronsyra genom behandling med svavelsyra. Av citronsyra framställs också en handfull andra E-nummer med liknande effekt, kallade citrater.

Produktionen av citronsyra sker i stora fabriker, varav en stor del ligger i Kina. Enligt statistik från 2007 tillverkades ungefär 1,6 miljoner ton citronsyra i världen, varav ungefär cirka 70 procent användes till livsmedel.

En del personer uppger sig, bland annat på vår sajt, få allergiska reaktioner av tillsatsen citronsyra, vilket skulle kunna ha att göra med finns rester av mögel, mögelsporer eller mögelbiprodukter i tillsatsen. Vi känner dock inte till någon forskning som stödjer detta och EU:s matsäkerhetsmyndighet EFSA menar att biotekniskt framställd citronsyra är säker.

Madrid| Doctors of the Carlos III hospital confirmed this morning in a press conference, the first case of human death caused by the ingestion of genetically modified food. Juan Pedro Ramos died from anaphylaxis after eating some recently developed tomatoes containing fish genes, which provoked a violent and lethal allergic reaction. 

This surprising announcement comes after the autopsy of the 31-year old Spanish man who died  at the Madrid hospital in the beginning of January. The young man’s health rapidly deteriorated after he suffered an unexplained allergic reaction, and all the drugs used to refrain the anaphylaxis were entirely inefficient. The team of experts claims to have been able to determine that the genetically modified tomatoes that the victim ingested at lunch were the cause of the allergic reaction that caused his death.
Mr. Ramos was working as a clerk in a Madrid warehouse on January 7, when he started feeling ill just after lunch. A number of symptoms started to manifest themselves, including a violent itchy rash, some serious swelling of the throat and a drastic drop in blood pressure. The man, who was known to have allergies, quickly injected himself some epinephrine, but his health condition continued to deteriorate.
The young man was rapidly carried to the hospital by co-workers, but the medical staff was unable to identify the cause of his allergic reaction in time and none of the usual treatments or drugs seemed to work. Mr. Ramos was confirmed dead just over an hour after arriving at the hospital.
The 31-year old man appeared healthy when he visited his family for the holidays.
The young man appeared happy and healthy when this picture was taken by his roomate, less than 24 hours before he died.
The medical examiners and forensic experts at the Carlos III hospital had to execute a lot of tests and analysis before they could precisely determine what caused Mr. Ramos to die of an allergic reaction to seafood,  since all he had eaten before his death was a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich with a diet cola. They were astonished when they discovered that the tomato he had ingested, not only contained some fish-related allergens, but also some antibiotic resistant genes which had prevented Mr. Ramos’ white blood cell from saving his life.
“At first we thought that there had been some form of contamination of his food, from contact with fish or seafood during the preparation”explained Dr. Rafael Pérez-Santamarina. “It was only when we tested the tomato itself that we noticed that it contained some allergens usually found in seafood. We did many different analysis and they all confirmed that the tomato was indeed the source of the allergens that killed Mr. Ramos.” 
Many experiments on GMOs had produced some horrible tumors and event death in rats and other lab animals, but Mr. Ramos the first known human death to have occured.

The case of Mr. Ramos is the first human death officially confirmed to be linked to the ingestion of genetically modified food. It contradicts most studies on GMOs which had concluded that genetically engineered crops currently on the market were completely safe to eat.
A team led by University of Nebraska scientists had anticipated this kind of problem in 1996, when they found that a Brazil nut protein introduced to improve the nutritional quality of genetically modified soybeans was able to provoke an allergic reaction in people with Brazil nut allergies. However, this kind of problem was dismissed by most scientists as very improbable, since it could easily be avoided with proper safety testing. The soybean injected with the Brazil nut gene was indeed abandoned during development, but it seems that the genetically modified tomato that caused Mr. Ramos’ death had not been submitted to sufficient testing and the lethal risk had not been identified before it was marketed.
The Spanish ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality ordered for the tomatoes of Portugese origin which infected the young man, to be recalled and removed from stores and markets for safety reasons. More than 7000 tons of tomatoes will therefore be ceased across the country by ministry inspectors and public safety officials.
The ministry also issued a public statement about the death of Mr Ramos in which it sends its condolences to his family and adds that it will “immediately demand further research on the subject to determine if other genetically modified food products on the European market could represent a risk for the Spanish population”.
